What makes a website?
Don't worry if you're new to the internet and the world wide web. Polar Systems Design will be with you every step of the way. We'll guide you through the essential areas required to get any website up and running.

There are just 3 simple things to decide

1 What's it called?

As everyone knows, your website needs a name. It's the 'www.blah-blah.com' part and it's known as a Domain Name. You have to pay a fee to a central internet body once every 2 years in order to secure the name for your company, but it is very cheap. We can help you choose a suitable name.

2 Where is it stored?

Your website takes up storage space on the world wide web. As it's no simple thing to store a website in the special, secure way required, various companies exist who do this for you. They are known as Web Hosts and they have powerful, safe computers permanently connected to the internet. You'll need one of these but of course Polar Systems Design will help you find the most cost effective solution for your company's needs.

Again, these can cost from as little as £40 per year but, if you already have access to the internet through an ISP like Talk Talk, it may be that they have already set some web space aside for you at no additional cost.

3 What does it look like?

Now we come to the final link in the chain and indeed the most exciting part - your new website. If you're a regular internet user, you may already have firm ideas on how you want your website to look. Or, the very thought of coming up with a website design may fill you with dread. Either way, Polar Systems Design is committed to holding your hand all the way.

Why have a website

It always makes sense to advertise whenever possible. When a website can cost as little as £200, it makes sense to include the internet as a means of promoting your company.
No company is too small to have a website. In fact, today's customers often expect a company to have a presence on the internet and will actively seek them out.
Your company's website doesn't need to be flash and expensive, or even have lots of pages. Indeed, you don't want to frustrate your clients with pages which load slowly but give them little information in return.
